Polaris provides both cartographic and GIS data processing and analysis services to the Southern Environmental Law Center. This map was used in presentations as part of a project to develop and apply a practical method for measuring the rate of conversion of coastal wetlands to pine plantations. The Altamaha River as selected as a pilot project. National Wetlands Inventory data, a number of land use classifications and recent LandSat TM and high resultion panchromatic satellite imagery were analyzed to estimate conversion rates and quantify the accuracy of the estimates.
